Hello again, world

Every blog's first post is a promise, and most of them are lies. "I'm going to write every week now." Sure you are. See you in nineteen months with a post apologising for not writing.

So here's a smaller, more honest deal: I will write here occasionally, when I have something worth your time. Mostly about building for the web, Unix terminals, old internet culture, software that respects the person sitting in front of it, and whatever rabbit hole ate my evening. Sometimes there will be strongly held opinions about monospace fonts. You have been warned.

If you want to know when something new goes up, there's an RSS feed. No newsletter, no push notifications, no pop-up asking for your email while you're still reading the first sentence, and no algorithm deciding whether you meant to come here. Just check back sometimes, or drop the feed into a reader, like it's 1999 and we still own our bookmarks.

It's quieter that way. I like it here.
